Carbonaceous chondrite (CV3)

History: Purchased in Morocco in February 2009 by PThomas.
Physical characteristics:  One stone weighing 127 g.
Petrography: (N. Chaumard and B. Devouard, UBP) Chondrules sizes from ~200 mm to 1.5 mm No type II chondrule was observed. Few spinel and melilite CAIs. Matrix olivine grains are acicular (5-20 microns long). Several fine-grained nodules of oxides (up to 800 mm), Fe-Ni sulfide and olivine. Fe-diffusion is well visible at borders and cracks in olivine grains in type I chondrules.
Mineral compositions and geochemistry: Matrix olivine, Fa50.2+0.3. Type I chondrules olivine and low-Ca pyroxene are Fa1.0+0.7 and Fs1.6+0.7, respectively.
