Carbonaceous chondrite (CV3)

History: Purchased in Morocco in December 2008 by PThomas.
Physical characteristics:  One stone weighing 99.98 g.
Petrography: (N. Chaumard and B. Devouard, UBP) Type I chondrules are dominant (~80%). Chondrule sizes range from ~200 mm to 1.5 mm. CAIs are scarces. Matrix is composed by grains up to 10 mm of fayalite with some unequilibrated olivine crystals. Fe-diffusion is visible at olivine borders in type I chondrules.
Mineral compositions and geochemistry: Mean olivine in matrice, Fa61.6+6.6. Type I chondrules olivine and low-Ca pyroxene are Fa1.3+0.9 and Fs1.5+0.3, respectively. Olivine in type II chondrule, Fa35.7.
