Major classification (group)4Achondrite (Diogenite)

History:  Bought in Erfoud (Morocco) in june 2006.
Physical characteristics:  TKW 144.8 g, one single piece , nearly complete fusion crust, slightly weathered on one side. Inside orange colour due to weathering. Millimetric (up to nearly centimetric) green pyroxene clasts about 60 vol % within brecciated matrix of the same material.

Petrography:  A. Jambon, O. Boudouma and D. Badia. UPVI
Breccia with large pigeonite clasts more or less fractured smaller clasts of the same and matrix whith interstitial small melt pockets containing quench crystals.

Mineralogy: EMP and SEM.
Pigeonite: En69Fs27Wo4, FeO/MnO = 30, Mg# = 0.72
Rare Cpx: En44Fs12Wo43, Mg# =0.79
Chromite: Mg00.2Fe0.9Al0.6Cr1.3O4
Glass: SiO2= 70%, Al2O3= 14%, K2O= 7%
Troilite
Log χ = 2.94 (10-9 m3/kg)

Classification: Monomict diogenite breccia with small shock melt pockets. Minor weathering of sulfide and silicates where strongly brecciated.
