In May, 2006, we found the place of the fall of a lunar meteorite (NWA). Coordinates are not disclosed for the moment. Later, all the information will be given to Meteoritical Society.

En mai 2006, nous avons retrouvé l'emplacement de la chute d'une météorite lunaire (NWA). Les coordonnées ne sont pas divulguées pour le moment. Toutes les informations seront donnés à la Meteoritical Society en temps voulu.

We drove a good part of the day to reach a mountainous region. Helped by a guide knowing the nomad discoverer of this meteorite, we take a track at nightfall. About twenty kilometers farther we go out of the track, it's dark black. In the light of the headlights of the car, we cross a wadi. Some kilometers later, we arrive to meet the nomad. This one accompanied with his sons drive us to the place of the find. There, we discover a zone of 5x5 m where the ground was sieved. The nomad found in the center of this excavation a lunar meteorite split up in several fragments of variable size.

Nous avons roulé une bonne partie de la journée pour atteindre une région montagneuse. Aidés par un guide connaissant le nomade découvreur de cette météorite, nous prenons une piste à la tombée de la nuit. Une vingtaine de kilomètres plus loin nous sortons de la piste, il fait nuit noire. À la lumière des phares de la voiture, nous franchissons un oued. Quelques kilomètres plus tard, nous arrivons chez le nomade. Celui-ci accompagné de ses fils nous conduit à l'emplacement de la trouvaille. Là, nous découvrons une zone de 5x5 m où le sol a été tamisé. Le nomade a trouvé au centre de cette excavation une météorite lunaire fragmentée en plusieurs morceaux de taille variable.

This type of meteorite being extremely difficult to recognize, several samples were in Erfoud some times after their discovery and were confide to the meteorites dealers passing there for carrying out analyses. When the analysis was known, the various fragments were sold to several international dealers. When we shall have ended the prospecting of this site, we shall give to Meteoritical Society all the information so that this meteorite has a true name.

Ce type de météorite étant extrêmement difficile à reconnaître, plusieurs échantillons se sont retrouvés à Erfoud quelque temps après la découverte et confiés aux revendeurs de météorites de passage pour faire procéder aux analyses. Quand l'analyse a été connue, les différents fragments ont été vendus à plusieurs revendeurs internationaux. Quand nous aurons terminé la prospection de ce site, nous donnerons à la Meteoritical Society tous les renseignements pour que cette météorite ait un vrai nom.
